As reported last week by The Jersey Journal, authorities have nabbed a second family member stealing from Marra’s Drug Store.
Pharmacist Joann Bernstein is accused of using a business card for personal use and running up more than $16,000 in charges. She was arrested on Wednesday, July 31, and charged with third-degree theft.
The 55-year-old Bernstein is set to appear in court on August 14.
The arrest comes on the heels of longtime employee Linda Marra being charged with stealing more than $50,000 from the store’s coffers over a one-year period. Marra appeared in court three weeks ago and pled not guilty.
There is no indication on if Marra and Bernstein were working in cahoots.
Marra’s Drug Store has been an institution in Secaucus Plaza since it was founded by Gerard A. Marra in 1923.
