A Middlesex County man was arrested for committing a lewd act in front of children at Buchmuller Park, according to police.
Rizwan Ashraf fled an approaching park attendant while committing the act on July 5. The police gathered evidence at the scene and the man and his vehicle were caught on park surveillance cameras.
After conducting an investigation, the police nabbed the 35-year-old Ashraf on Friday on Plaza Drive. He was charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, lewdness and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities clarified that Ashraf did not have contact with any of the children at the park.
The incident comes less than two weeks after 47-year-old Sergio Menendez of Secaucus was arrested for exposing himself to a passing car near the Maple Street ramp on Paterson Plank Road.
