The Secaucus High School swim team won numerous medals and broke a few medals at the 2019 Hudson County Meet of Championships at the Secaucus Recreation Center over the weekend.
Individually, David Son set a Hudson County record in the 200 meter individual medley with a time of 1:56.69. Son also won first place in the 100 meter fly and 100 meter breaststroke (59.53).
Carlee Sanchez-Hegarty beat the field in the 100 meter fly (59.21) on the girls’ side while Angie Moncrieffe won first place in the 100 meter backstroke (1:00.46). Other medal winners include Moncrieffe finishing second in the 100 meter freestyle (58.02), Mathew Son placing third in the 100 meter freestyle (50.76) and Caitlin Hwang finishing third in the 200 meter freestyle.
In the relays, the girls’ team placed second in the 200 medley relay, with Moncrieffe, Hwang, Sanchez-Hegarty and Grace Bowers 2:00.98 . The boys’ side finished third in the same event at 1:47.56 with a team of Alex Nguyen, Matthew Son, David Son and Robert Grewe.
The girls’ team also finished second in the 200 meter freestyle relay as Moncrieffe, Hwang, Sanchez-Hegarty and Bowers had a team finished at 1:50.62.
