A local group got some publicity this week when it was revealed that Secaucus was home to North America’s only Indian American bagpipe band.
New Jersey’s News 12 featured the Swamibapa Pipe Band, which is part of the Shree Swaminarayan temple in Secaucus. The temple is the religious home to thousands of Hinuds that live in New Jersey.
The group has 40 members and has been a part of numerous high-profile events in its 15 year history, including ceremonies at the 9/11 Memorial and Memorial Day parades in both New York and New Jersey.
There are two Swamibapa pipe bands in the United Kingdom and others in Kenya and India.
