Students at Secaucus Middle School and High School joined millions across the country on Wednesday by walking out of class to protest gun violence.
The organized event took place one month after 17 people were killed in a shooting Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. The Secaucus students assembled on the high school football field to spell out the phrase “# HOPE”.
An aerial photograph of the event is being sent to Parkland, according to Secaucus Superintendent Jennifer Montesano, who told The Jersey Journal, “It is our wish that this picture will serve as a reminder that students in Secaucus are sending their love and hope that tragedies like this will never happen again.”
