Coach Stan Fryczynski couldn’t be happier with the final outcome of this year’s Secaucus High School cross country program. It marked the largest turnout in school history and they competed in what the coach felt was one of the most difficult schedules the program faced.
Both squads recorded winning records; the boys completed their season at 7-1 with a 2nd place finish at the NJIC Championship Meet. The girls sported a 7-2 record and also finished 2nd in the NJIC Championships. Both teams took home fourth place medals in the North II, Group-1 State Sectional Championship.
“We most certainly accomplished all of the goals we set out to do. That is not an easy task, but this year’s group was as spirited and enthusiastic as you could ever find, I am really proud of them,” Fryczynski said. “What’s exciting is that we bring back a good amount of this team and perhaps we can raise the bar a little more.”
Without question, both teams capturing State Sectional Medals was the peak of the season. It marked the sixth time in the last seven seasons for the boys and seventh time in the last eight seasons for the girls. “Very few teams have advanced to the State Group Championship with the consistency as we have,” Fryczynski said.
