On Christmas Day, a massive fire destroyed a two-story house on Myrtle Avenue.
The fire broke out in the basement of the home belonging to the Lazicki family around 3:00 pm. The fire consumed the home the quickly and firefighters from Secaucus, North Arlington, Lyndhurst and Jersey City joined up to battle the blaze.
The fire was controlled by the evening but the building needed to be demolished, leaving Joseph Lazicki, his elderly mother and adult son without a home.
Anyone wishing to help the family can send mail checks or gift cards can be sent to the Secaucus Emergency Fund at 101 Centre Avenue. Donations of clothes and other items can be brought to the Secaucus Recreation Center on Koelle Boulevard.
