Former Secaucus mayor Dennis Elwell lost an attempt to have his corruption conviction tossed out last week.
Elwell’s conviction was upheld by the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison in April for accepting a bribe from a federal agent.
The 67-year-old Elwell is currently serving his sentence at the Federal Correctional Complex in Butner, North Carolina. He is due for release in August of 2014.
