While a recent string of carjackings in Secaucus garnered a lot of attention, the potential resolution of the crimes may have flown under the radar.
Omar Narvaez-Mata of Bayonne appeared in Central Judicial Processing court on Friday to face charges stemming from a March 14 carjacking in Secaucus.
The 21-year-old Narvaez-Mata allegedly pistol-whipped the driver of a BMW near the Route 3 West exit near Maple Street. He struck the 23-year-old driver in the side of his head and threatened, “Don’t make me blast you” before driving away in the car, according to the charges.
Narvaez-Mata was on parole after serving a two-year prison sentence for unlawful possession of a handgun. Bail has been set at $300,000 cash.
