The Secaucus High School volleyball team started their season with a 25-18, 25-15 victory over Lyndhurst at home on Friday evening.
Junior Danielle Roesing – a member of the 2010 All-Hudson County First Team – had 10 assists while senior Allison Perricone and freshman Julia McClure had four kills apiece.
Senior Jacqueline McCaffery, who was named to the 2010 All-Hudson County Second Team, had five assists and two digs. Sophomore Kelly Riebasell had three ace serves, two kills and two assists and junior Kimberly Alfonso added 10 digs.
It was the first game for the Patriots in the second tenure of coach Sheila Rivera, who returned to the helm after leaving the team following the 2006 season. Rivera led the tea to back-to-back Group I state titles in 2005 and 2006.
The Patriots visit North Arlington for their next match on Monday.
