Two men impersonating police officers restrained a 2nd Street homeowner and a friend and robbed her house, Secaucus police said.
Two males — a Caucasian and African-American — told the woman they needed to talk with her about a local business of hers.
The women, 55 and 34 years old, were in a home on the 700 block of 2nd when the incident occurred.
The robbers fled the scene after the homeowner reportedly escaped and called a neighbor who alerted police.
Secaucus police said that the robbery was preplanned rather than random. The suspects are described as a tall, slim white male in his 20s or 30s , and a stocky black male believed to be in his 30s, 5′ 8″ to 5′ 10″, police said.
The investigation, which involves other jurisdictions, is ongoing.
Police Chief Dennis Corcoran said April 14 that the suspects likely fled the town after the incident.
