Secaucus police arrested a woman who left her 22-month-old son alone in her car in the T.J. Maxx parking lot last week.
The 43-year-old Jersey City woman left the child alone in a BMW while she went into the store to use the bathroom on the afternoon of May 4. It was 81 degrees.
Police in the area spotted the child, who did not respond to the police’s presence. The mother emerged from the store as the police were preparing to make a forced entry.
The child was fine and had been sleeping when police arrived. However, the mother was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child and the boy was taken into protective custody.
