Secaucus was one of only 66 New Jersey towns that saw its residential property taxes drop in 2017, according to NJ101.5.
Overall, New Jersey’s residential property taxes increased by 1.6 percent. But Secaucus’ average tax bill dropped 6.7 percent to $6,329 – the second-largest drop in Hudson County behind East Newark, which fell by 7.8 percent. The average New Jersey residential property tax bill in 2017 was $8,690.
Walpack led the state with the largest decrease of 30.1 percent, which is somewhat deceiving as the town has less than 20 residents.
