The literary magazine for Secaucus Middle School was recently named the recipient of a prestigious PRESLM Award for the 2016-17 school year.
The Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines Award is issued by the National Council of Teachers of English, primarily to high school publications. Secaucus was one of the few non-high school programs honored in the competition, which was open to all middle and high school in the United States, Canada and the Virgin Islands.
The submission that garnered recognition was the May 2017 edition titled “The Patriot”, which was given a score in the “Excellent” range by a panel of judges. The award tiers based on points are Superior (100-91), Excellent (90-81), Above Average (80-71) and Average (71-Below).
