Secaucus made some headlines over the weekend due to the sighting of a small alligator in the Secaucus Duck Pond.
ABC, NBC, News 12 New Jersey and many other outlets reported the story after a Secaucus Department of Public Works employee spotted the reptile a few weeks ago. The town posted signs and contacted the New Jersey Division of Fish and Wildlife, which said the animal would not survive long due to the low water temperature.
However, Mayor Michael Gonnelli posted a photo on Facebook on Saturday evening confirming the gator was indeed alive and well.
The mayor indicated the town will try and capture the gator so it can be relocated somewhere more suitable.
