The Secaucus High School volleyball team’s season-opening six-match winning streak came to an end Wednesday against rival Bogota.
It was rematch of last year’s state final and the result was the same: a victory for Bogota, which entered the season ranked as the second-best team in the state.
Bogota took the first set 25-17 and took huge lead in the second set before Secaucus rallied. The Patriots took the lead in the second set and were on the verge of forcing a decisive third but lost the final four points and fell short.
Julia McClure led Secaucus with 11 kills and Kendall Caruso added 11 assists. McClure and Andie Lennon combined for 26 digs.
