Blue Pineapple

The paper covering was recently removed from the windows of Blue Pineapple, the new self-serve yogurt store currently under construction in Secaucus Plaza.

Blue Pineapple in Secaucus Under Construction

The interior confirms that the store will be very much in the modern style of the CUPS yogurt franchise that currently has six New Jersey locations and growing.

Coincidentally, CUPS also has a Secaucus location under construction in Harmon Meadow Plaza across from Houlihan’s. The yogurt establishments will go head-to-head and compete with neighborhood favorite Uncle D’s, which located on Paterson Plank Road.

The only establishments moving into Secaucus are food and restaurant related — and the individuals opening these businesses are usually the ones with a good buck in the first place.

They’d better have a good buck; the rents/leases for the buildings are outrageous. It therefore prohibits the “little people” from opening a shop of their own.

Somebody is renting the space where the old Flower Box was. Willing to bet that this will be another eatery.

It would be nice if a legit company moved into town and offered many livable wage jobs: that is what we need.

Unfortunately, I hear that Blue Pineapple is owned by the same guy who owns Bagel Buffet. I have not stepped foot in Bagel Buffet in over 2 years because of the rude treatment I have received, mainly by this owner. I will not be frequenting Blue Pineapple. Can’t wait for the new bagel shop to open!

There is nothing better than Uncle D’s.

There you go, Judy — my point was just proved: it is the people with the big bucks that are renting these spaces and opening establishments.

The new bagel place can’t seem to decide when — now it’s September from what I heard.

What we need is a real company with real jobs. Too too bad about Damascus Bakery — we could have used the jobs.

Glad that are taking their time…. guess they really wanna get beaten by CUPS. Either way I hope it puts Uncle D out of business… haven’t been their since I heard D use to live in the store…. GROSS

  7. Carl Dispoto says:

frogo, not sure who you are referring to but there is no “D” that ever lived there. The store is named after the owner’s husband, who most certainly never lived at the store.

  8. itsjustme says:

Somebody used to live in the store?

Maybe D was under the counter or one of the tiny back tables, a la George Costanza.:)

Uncle D’s sells ice cream, ice cream novelties, ice cream cakes and some yogurt. And it is also a mom and pop store with a following. The other 2 are franchises that sell mass produced yogurt. There’s a difference.

Pretty soon all there’ll be in Secaucus are places to eat and nowhere to work. Take a look at Harmon Meadow Plaza, in back of those horrid new condos: there are 3 tenants in the entire building. Panasonic is leaving. The entire back road is nearly deserted. Pretty soon there will be nowhere to work in town, just restaurants to eat in.

I actually applied for a job there. Desperate times and all that. Never got a call back. Why? Maybe because they want someone young, curvy and perky with no experience at all instead of someone who can bring experience and stability to a position. Go figure.

I was looking online to see if this yogurt store was open and ended up here. Whoever this “itsjustme” person is has way too much time on their hands. Sounds like an hourly wage person from Secaucus in the food business who is constantly looking for a job to me. If they were any good, they would be holding a job proudly- and not spending all this time and effort writing nasty things on the internet.

Curvy for the job is right – chicks there have great big chests

where are the tables and chairs to sit at. How can an establishment sell something to eat and offer no drinks.Honestly, they don’t even sell water. I will not go back there until they put in tables and offer to sell drinks. The interior is nice but not practical, Get with it. oh by the way if it is the same owner as bagle buffet, at least the help is nicer here. I don’t go into the buffet anymore since that idiot Zaccone is so rude, loud and obnoxious. The rest of staff all they do is talk talk talk when you wait on line. They offer no assistance whatsoever. must speak spanish to work there.

  14. itsjustme says:

@Ceejay: that’s the norm, with these local businesses looking for help. Another place that shall remain nameless did the same to me. THat’s show biz, I guess…..[sarc]

@Chris: nope, I am not an hourly wage service worker. What you are seeing is a sign of the times — we have been having a mass exodus of companies — not just in this town, but in many surrounding towns. There is nothing at all deleterious about what I have been saying.

“Where is there to work” is what one considers when they are considering a move into a new town or city. That’s taken into consideration, along with the schools and what the neighborhoods are like and what type of ammenities there are for kids and adults. Pretty soon there will be nowhere to work.

My point: It would be fantastic if a major new company moved into this town and came with a great many liveable wage jobs.

We have a gret many people who aren’t doing well job wise and financially — let’s protect our own.

    on a ligher note:

@HarmonCove Res: it would be great if we got a full scale ice cream parlor, a la Bischoff’s or the old Jan’s that used to be on Route 4.:)
