The Third Annual Secaucus Memorial Day Parade, set for Saturday, May 19 at noon, will be led by grand marshall Michael J. Marra, president of Marra Drugs.
Marra, a lifelong resident of nearly 80 years who helps run the family’s iconic drug store and medical supply business, has been active in the community for decades through institutions like the board of ed, UNICO and the Knights of Columbus. He has five children, nine grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
We’re told his father, Gerard, who founded the Marra’s business, was instrumental in first starting up a Memorial Day parade in town decades ago.
The parade, the third since its revival by the Gonnelli administration in 2010, will stretch from Secaucus High School down Paterson Plank Road to the American Legion Hall at Centre Ave. and Second Street. A block party concludes the event at the American Legion.
Rain date will be May 20.
