BOE Calls Special Meeting Tonight
Feb 9th, 2012 | By Greg Hazley | Category: On tapThe Secaucus Board of Education has scheduled a special public and closed meeting for Feb. 9, starting at 4 p.m. to cover three matters, including whether to move school board elections to the fall and ongoing talks with the teachers union.
The board’s agenda includes discussion of the school business administrator’s employment, issues concerning negotiations with the Secaucus Education Association, and the possibility of moving the election to November.
The first two matters will be discussed in closed executive session, while the election matter will be open to the public. The public portion is tentatively scheduled for 5 p.m.
The meeting is set for Huber Street School tonight.

4 pm?
People are working! Why couldnt they wait until 7 pm?
I think there should be a resolution or verbal agreement in school and town government meetings where they cannot start until 7pm…..I realize teachers work all day and some live out of town ….it does not make sense for them to go home …so they prefer the earlier meetings….but please realize many parents start work at the same time teachers do in the morning and are not reaching Secaucus until 7 pm the earliest because they don’t leave their jobs till then …often 12hr days with today’s job market of no raises and long Commutes …..same goes for town meetings……not all us work in town and get out of work at 4 or 5 pm with a 5 minute commute and doing our errands during lunch time……I know some of you may think thats the price we pay for a higher salary …..which is often true….but to you I also say we are mostly likely carrying a higher portion/burden of the taxes …..Hence we’re paying your salary so please include us and let us have a say in the decision process/meetings.
They’re going to change the election. Otherwise there is no reason to bring it up. Don’t do it! Candidates will have to spend a small fortune to get their message noticed along with candidates for the other offices. Who wants to spend a lot of money for a non–paying position?? Then the political parties will get more involved. Leave it where it is, in April.
I just checked the Sec. Bd. of Ed. website and no where do I see it posted that there is a meeting today. I wonder what they are up to. The next board mtg. that IS posted is Feb. 16th. If I didn’t read it here I would not have known.
Well, they voted to not change the election. In my opinion, this was not a wise move. I wonder if the budget will exceed the 2% cap. Maybe it has to to pay for Randina’s quarter of a million dollar salary and perks. I predict that the budget will be defeated, and we will again be subject to another feud between the council and board. Disgusting.
Speaking of disgusting, Troyer’s letter in the home news shows just how stupid he is. My tax dollars pay Randina’s salary. Her quarter of a million dollar salary. Damn right I should question her decisions. She is a horrible leader, has personal vendettas against professionals, changes her mind on her own decisions every day, throws anybody under the bus to save her own skin, and has destroyed the community that was Secaucus School district.
That Troyer would even equate running an animal shelter to a school district is laughable. But what one would expect from a man who lied about his own school credentials for years.
It is the Board’s role to support the decisions and recommendations of the superindent, and in doing so they have made laughingstocks of themselves and wasted countless money on useless positions, not to mention buy-outs and hush money to keep some of her victims quiet. It is the role of other professionals, such as principals and teachers, to question her decisions, since she changes her decisions every 2 minutes, makes decisions based on personal feelings, makes decisions such as appointing a chiropractor to a principal position, makes decisions knowing that she has the blind faith support of board fools who think she is their “snow white”.
Very well said, My 2cents…This is the whole situation ,that has been occuring for the last three years, in a nutshell ……….
Yes my2cents, I thought the same thing as golden rule. You hit the nail on the head with your post.
i agree with my 2 cents and golden rule but you forget all the directors.you don’t need directors of elementary ed and secondary ed.board office directors of human resources,,this aint Wayne.look who she appointed to those positions. But you’re wrong about principal. He’s doing a good job up there and everyone you see says so, My relative works up there and raves about him,she says no one can keep up with the guy. He’s hands on AND TAKES NO CRAP. my kids love him and they say he knows everyone by name.I drop my kids off in the morning and he and Giele are there to greet everyone in the parking lot make sure all things are going smooth.we always get phone calls and emails to tell us what is going on.so lay off him and concentrate on the real matters.reduce spending on things and people not needed and put it to the kids.Vote for Anderson and Riebesell.
