Secaucus Man Charged with Fraud
Mar 10th, 2010 | By Greg Hazley | Category: On tap, SecaucusA 36-year-old Secaucus man who is a Jersey City police officer was arrested this morning on charges that he obtained a mortgage under false pretenses.
The U.S. Attorney’s office announced the arrest following a March 8 complaint against the 36-year-old man, Brian Ragauckas, which said he did not disclose his Secaucus home in order to get a second loan for $530K to buy a property in Jersey City.
The complaint involves Ragauckas’ Secaucus property owned with his wife and bought in June 2000, which carries a 30-year mortgage of $513K.
The U.S. Attorney, Paul Fishman, said Ragauckas applied for a loan from Countrywide Financial to purchase a multifamily unit in Jersey City but made two false statements and failed to delcare his outstanding mortgage in Secaucus.
The J.C. cop told FBI special agents that he deliberately did not list his Secaucus property because he thought he wouldn’t get a loan to buy the Jersey City dwelling, the complaint said.
He got the J.C. mortgage, which is now in default and in the process of being foreclosed.
The complaint says he told the bank that he rented the Secaucus property and had not owned property in the last three years. He also later signed an agreement and other documents maintaining those claims to be true.
Ragauckas faces as much as 30 years in prison and a fine up to $1M.

Does he also lose his pension and his job?
Didn’t Countrywide do a credit check? How did this guy get a mortgage without a credit check being done??? Something doesn’t sound right. You can’t even get an apartment these days without a credit check being done!
So I guess that means If he lied to banks that means he’s a liar and all the people he locked up need to be release, including those he signed the police report. I glad they are going after the dirty cops in Jersey City, start at the TOP PROSECUTORS OFFICE FROM THE 1990′S AND ON. ALOT OF DIRTY COPS FROM THAT DRUG SQUAD. I CAN’T PROVE IT BUT IT’S BEEN RUMORED THAT THAT OFFICE HAS ALOT OF LINKS TO SOME DEEP CRIMES IN THAT CITY.
