Mon., Feb. 22 – Two young men from Secaucus and three juveniles were arrested in the afternoon on theft charges after police said the small group took a lawn ornament from the 700 block of Fifth Street.
Luis Garcia-Bacalao, 19, Islam Fahmy, 18, along with two 17-year-old males and a 15-year-old female were arrested for theft of removable property and receiving stolen property, police said.
Sun., Feb. 21 – A 25-year-old Secaucus man was arrested for theft and simple assault following an altercation with a cab driver.
Police said Dion Lozano was arrested at around 1:30 a.m. in the area of Wood Avenue for allegedly “trying to beat” a cab fare and assaulting the driver, police said.
Tue., Feb. 16 – Three Union City women were arrested at 5:22 p.m. for alleged shoplifting at Kohl’s.
Yorkey Varona, 30, Giselle Alfonso, 25, and Yulia Veloz-Calero, 36, were charged with trying to leave to store without paying for shorts and shoes worth $192.
Thur., Feb. 11 – Two men were arrested on burglary and theft charges after a search following a report of a vehicle broken into at the Olive Garden on Route 3 West.
Secaucus police received a report from a victim who said he saw people break into his car at around 9:20 p.m. in the Olive Garden lot before fleeing on to Route 3 West. The victim got the license plate number of the getaway car which was broadcast over police radio.
Luis Enrique Arellano Acevedo, 34, of North Carolina, and Henry Higinio, 35, of Paterson, were apprehended by the Passaic Sherrif’s Department by Route 46 in Litte Ferry and found to have proceeds from the victim’s car.
They were charged with burglary, theft, conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to commit theft.
