CBS News and the Associated Press reported that Ricardo Young of Queens was trying to tighen the lines between the tugboat he was aboard — Turecamo Girls — and a vessel it was towing at around 2 a.m. when he became tangled and was crushed.
The 44-year-old, 1,950-horsepower vessel, which operates in New York-area waters, took Young’s body to a dock in Secaucus.
NJ.com said the vessel was near Anderson Creek [southwest of Harmon Cove) at the time of the accident.
The tug is owned by Moran Towing Corp., which says it has operated in New York since 1860.
