This probably won’t surprise many people, but the National Weather Service has issued a “flash flood watch” for much of the region, including Hudson County. The warning, issued at 1 p.m., carries until 8 p.m. tonight.
The NWS says that 1 to 1.5 inches of rain had fallen in our area as of 1 p.m. The good news is the heavy rain shifted east but the NWS says scattered showers will continue into the evening and some could be on the heavy side.
“The area with the greatest risk of any flooding this afternoon or evening is in northern New Jersey where recent rainfall has been the heaviest,” reads the warning. “Localized urban street flooding will also be possible throughout the metropolitan area during any showers this afternoon.”
